The Great Russian Northern Way

Valery Shanin Film Club presents a new project – the creation of a multi-part television film “The Great Russian Northern Way”

The Great Russian Northern Way is 2000 kilometers from Moscow to the Solovetsky Monastery. It was this way that the Vikings and Orthodox monks went. And we will go through it just as they did hundreds of years ago-on foot. And we will make a film about this truly great journey.

Russian Russian Northern Way begins in Moscow and goes to Solovki through Sergiev Posad, Alexandrov, Pereslavl Zalessky, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl, Vologda, Kirillov, Belozersk, Kargopol, Onega, Kem in places that are inextricably linked with the history of the Russian people, Orthodoxy and the state, with the culture and life of the country, from the past to the present through monasteries and temples, manors and museums, villages and cities, along rivers and lakes, through forests and fields.
